When choosing a VPN for multiple devices, check simultaneous connection limits—not just how many devices can install the client. The right option for a family depends on the service terms, total household data needs, and whether each device can connect independently. VPNRJ allows unlimited simultaneous connections, but data is still limited by the plan you choose.

Installation counts, device limits and simultaneous connections

“Multi-device support” can mean compatibility with different operating systems or that an account can be linked to multiple devices. It doesn’t tell you whether they can all connect at the same time. Installing a client puts the app on a device; importing a subscription loads the account’s connection settings; simultaneous connections are subject to a separate limit. Check each separately.

Services don’t all identify devices the same way. Limits may depend on client authorization, registered devices, or active connections. Whether you need to unlink a device after reinstalling an operating system or importing a subscription again depends on the service’s rules. Being able to install an app from an app store doesn’t mean the service allows another device to connect.

What to check before sharing with family
Item What it means What to ask for family use
Supported platforms Operating systems the client runs on Can everyone connect from their computer, tablet, or other device?
Linked devices The devices an account can register or authorize Do you need to revoke an old device when switching?
Simultaneous connections Limits on devices or connections using the service at the same time Will family members affect each other when connected together?
Plan data The data allowance available to the account Do all devices share the same data allowance?
Sharing terms How the account may be used Are there different rules for family sharing and resale?

Choose a plan forfamily sharing based on how you use it

If one person mainly switches between a computer and a tablet, platform support, configuration syncing, and device switching may matter more than simultaneous connections. If family members stream videos, browse, or attend online classes at the same time, focus on connection limits and total data. The same number of devices can call for different plans depending on how they’re used.

Estimate household data use from everyday activities: video quality and viewing time, cloud backups, and system updates all affect consumption. Check how your data use changes in the account dashboard before moving to a larger plan; choosing based on device count alone is less reliable. The dashboard and client may report data differently, so use the account dashboard to check your remaining allowance.

Connecting through a router can reduce the work of configuring each device, but not every router supports a compatible client. It also concentrates troubleshooting at the gateway: unsuitable routing rules could affect the whole household’s connection. When getting started, connect commonly used devices individually and consider a router setup only after confirming everything works. Don’t assume a router always counts as just one device.

  • ✅ Using the VPN at the same time: check connection rules first, then monitor shared plan data.
  • ✅ Switching devices often: check how to unlink old devices, refresh subscriptions, and move connections.
  • ✅ Visiting international websites occasionally: compare how data plans and monthly subscriptions are billed.
  • ❌ Choosing based only on “unlimited devices”: check platform compatibility, data limits, and terms of use too.

What happens when youexceed device limits?

Services with connection limits may reject new connections, ask you to end an existing session, or disconnect an active one when you exceed the limit. The exact behavior depends on the service’s server-side rules. An error in one client doesn’t establish a universal rule. VPNRJ allows unlimited simultaneous connections, so you don’t need to choose a plan based on the number of family devices.

But a new device failing to connect doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve hit a device limit. An outdated subscription, an issue with plan status, incompatible settings, a system proxy conflict, or a network that can’t reach the selected route can cause similar problems. Check your plan and data status in the dashboard, then review the client’s error message. Avoid repeated reinstalls that could erase your existing settings.

  1. Check what’s affected. Can the old device still access the same website? If only the new device has a problem, start by checking its local settings.
  2. Check your subscription status. Confirm in the dashboard that your plan is active and has data available, then refresh the subscription using the official entry point.
  3. Check configuration compatibility. Make sure the client supports the protocols and configuration formats actually used by the subscription.
  4. Rule out connection conflicts. Temporarily quit other proxy or tunneling apps and check for leftover system proxy settings.
  5. Record the details before contacting support. Include your operating system, client name, and a redacted error message. Don’t send the full subscription link.

Choosing aVPN plan for family use with VPNRJ

Choose a VPNRJ monthly subscription or data plan based on your household’s total usage, not by calculating a separate plan for each family member. Monthly subscription data resets each month on the activation date; data plans last until used and never expire. A monthly subscription suits ongoing use, while a data plan works well when your usage is irregular.

VPNRJ plan details at a glance
Billing type Price and data Data rules Simultaneous connections
Monthly subscription ¥9.9/month · 60GB Resets monthly on the activation date Unlimited devices
Monthly subscription ¥18/month · 250GB Resets monthly on the activation date Unlimited devices
Monthly subscription ¥28/month · 500GB Resets monthly on the activation date Unlimited devices
Data plan ¥158 · 300GB Valid until used; never expires Unlimited devices
Data plan ¥358 · 1000GB Valid until used; never expires Unlimited devices
Data plan ¥658 · 3000GB Valid until used; never expires Unlimited devices

You don’t need to choose a more expensive plan just to get unlimited devices; base your choice on data needs. If you upgrade partway through a billing period, the price difference is prorated for the remaining days, so check the amount shown in the dashboard before proceeding. VPNRJ offers a 60-day no-questions-asked refund. No email address is required to create an account, so keep your username and password somewhere safe. See the plans page for full billing details.

How to import and verify on each device

Sharing with family doesn’t mean copying the same installer to every device. Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS have different client downloads, system permissions, and configuration import steps. Sign in to the dashboard, open the downloads section, and get your subscription. The iOS client download is available according to the active plan conditions shown in the dashboard.

  1. Open the downloads section from the dashboard. Choose the client for your operating system and install it by following the instructions. Don’t download installers from unfamiliar file-sharing pages.
  2. Get and import your subscription. Use the client’s subscription import feature. Don’t enter the full subscription URL as the server address for an individual route.
  3. Refresh the configuration and choose a route. Review the imported routes and rules, and use a configuration format supported by the dashboard or instructions.
  4. Enable the required connection mode. Set up system proxy or tunnel mode as described by the client, and grant any permissions required by your operating system.
  5. Test the tasks you actually need. Visit your target website, then check video playback, classes, or work tools. Don’t rely only on the client’s “Connected” status.

Shadowsocks, VMess, Trojan, VLESS, Hysteria2, and TUIC are names of different protocols or implementations, not interchangeable subscription formats. A client’s support for a protocol doesn’t mean it can read every service’s subscription file. Follow the configuration provided in the VPNRJ dashboard and the client’s instructions. You don’t need to modify protocol settings just to share access with family.

Routing rules determine which requests go through the proxy and which connect directly. System proxy settings may not cover every app, while tunnel mode also depends on correct routing and DNS settings. If a website still shows your local region, check the exit used for that visit with My IP. A changed exit IP alone doesn’t rule out a DNS leak; check the client’s DNS settings and routing rules too.

How to protect shared subscriptions

Subscription links usually contain the credentials needed to access connection settings, so protect them like passwords. Don’t post them in public chats, posts, or online conversion tools, and keep them out of screen recordings and support screenshots. Account passwords and subscription URLs serve different purposes; sharing a subscription shouldn’t also grant access to the account dashboard.

If a link has been exposed, first check whether the dashboard offers a reset option, and contact support if needed. After a reset, saved subscriptions may stop working, so you’ll need to import or refresh the new link on your household’s devices. Deleting a chat message doesn’t guarantee that no one saved the link.

Unlimited simultaneous connections describe how many devices may use the service at once; they don’t imply permission to share publicly, resell access, or use the service in other ways not explicitly authorized. If you’re unsure what family sharing allows, ask support first. For sensitive services such as online banking or school systems, follow the organization’s access requirements. A proxy connection can’t replace account security or resolve every regional restriction.
